Daily Mail mentions David Tennant and Catherine Tate hosting The Jonathan Ross Show

The Daily Mail mentions David Tennant and Catherine Tate hosting The Jonathan Ross show on Radio 2 yesterday in this article about Jonathan Ross having suspected swine flu.

The article says that Jonathan tweeted afterwards "Hello. Big thanks to David and Catherine for stepping in.I have been given Tamiflu by the doctor. Still feel ghastly."

However there is an error in the article as it says that Jonathan rang in on Friday to say that he could not record the show that day but in fact it was posted on Twitter on Thursday that David and Catherine would be hosting the show.

David Tennant and Catherine Tate hosting the Jonathan Ross Radio Show today

David Tennant and Catherine Tate hosted the Jonathan Ross Show on Radio 2 this morning as Jonathan was ill. This show was recorded yesterday at around lunchtime. Their appearance was first announced on Twitter on Thursday.

Their guests were Ricky Gervais and Anthony Head, plus La Roux played live in the studio.

The show was full of laughter and jokes and really emphasised how well David and Catherine get one! However apparently David Tennant did not stay in today to listen to the show as someone tweeted that they had spotted him out in London.

MP3s of all the David Tennant sections of the show are available on the Radio page of DavidTennantOnTwitter.com here.

Detailed review of Rex Is Not Your Lawyer script

Television critic and Doctor Who fan Televisionary has posted his detailed review of the script of the pilot of Rex Is Not Your Lawyer online here.

His summation at the end is:
There's a nice lightness to Rex that would separate it from other legal dramas and the lead character is fitting for David Tennant. Prone to hyperbole, dramatic gestures, and brainy discourse, Rex isn't a hotel-inhabiting lawyer embodying the Doctor but rather a compelling character whose both egocentric and sympathetic, a hyper-ambitious attorney knocked down a few pegs and humbled by his panic attacks. I can definitely see (and hear) Tennant in the dialogue and I think he's well suited for a role that calls for him to deliver fast-paced dialogue, steal the spotlight, and yet remain intriguingly vulnerable at the same time.

To date NBC has not announced a decision whether or not they will be commissioning a full series of the drama-comedy.

Billie Piper talks about David Tennant being wanted for Doctor Who The Movie

Billie Piper spoke to Sarah Cox yesterday about the possible Doctor Who movie. It can be heard at this link (from 46 minutes) but the transcript was:

SARA: Doctor Who, the movie, there's rumors about that. And, apparently, the producers want you and David Tennant, to be in it?

BILLIE: Well, I heard they are doing it, and I know that they want David to do it.

SARA: Oh, so there is a grain of truth to it.

BILLIE: I think there is.

SARA: Are you wiggling your face on purpose?

BILLIE: No it's just a nervous twitch (laughter)

SARA: I thought you were gonna signal something there

BILLIE: I don't know... I think David's slightly anxious that they're gonna ... they'll be some big kind of American producers on board and that they'll try and hijack the whole thing and cast someone like Johnny Depp.

SARA: Hummm. (Pause)

BILLIE: Sounds great. hahahah! I'll be at the premiere! hahaha!

Massive thanks to Farsighted from GallifreyBase.com for typing out the transcript.

Opinions about Rex Is Not Your Lawyer

Jace Lacob who is an American television reviewer (and a Doctor Who fan) was answering questions tonight on Twitter about David Tennant's pilot Rex Is Not Your Lawyer after reading the pilot script. He described it as "A quirky & original legal dramedy. I can see Tennant in this role. Procedural cases + light serialized/relationship angle. I'd watch."

When asked about the reports that the sets were being taken down, Jace replied "That was last week. Means nothing as that routinely happens with pilots."

On being asked whether it is likely to be commissioned for a series he tweeted "It all depends on the strength or weakness of their other pilots, now that it's under consideration for fall."

When asked about a comparison between another ppilot Legally Mad and Rex Is Not Your Lawyer, Jace responded "Legally Mad was AWFUL. (I watched the pilot last spring.) I wouldn't compare the two, really. Rex much less absurd."

Also on Rex Is Not Your Lawyer, a David Tennant fan called pacejunkie posted onto LiveJournal how she feels about the stories circulating in the press about the pilot. (Please remember that this is just one fan's opinion and there are a couple of inaccuries in it but it certainly puts things into perspective.)

The show will be recorded tomorrow (the Jonathan Ross Show has recorded since the scandal) and will be broadcast on Saturday between 10am and 1pm.

Apparently Jonathan Ross is ill which is why David and Catherine are standing in, especially as their shows have been so popular on previous occasions.

David Tennant at the Radio Times Covers Party

On the evening of Tuesday 26th January 2010 David Tennant attended the Radio Times Cover Party in London. This is an annual event that David has attended for the last few years as it is for people who have appeared on the front cover of the Radio Times Magazine during the previous year.

Radio Times were tweeting from the event and their Tweets included:
"Ooh...David Tennant and James Nesbitt having a nice old natter..."
"And now they're arguing over who's been on the most covers. Er, we think David wins that one..."

"David Tennant comes up for his LAST EVER Doctor who cover. Sad!"

"Very classy: David Tennant always acknowledges the band as he leaves the stage."

"DT collects the Waters of Mars cover, then Ruth Jones and James Corden for G&S."

"David Tennant collects the first Doctor Who cover! And very probably not the last..."

"David Walliams, Ben Miller, David Tennant, Outnumbered on stage. It's Tyger's birthday - many happy returns!"
"Comic Relief covers mean a celeb fest on stage!"

"I just stood next to David Tennant and didn't notice for a minute.

"Who's that? It's David Tennant! Sorry ladies, he's with girlfriend Georgia Moffett..."

A funny thing occured as this account, David_Tennant on Twitter re-tweeted some of the Radio Times' tweets and they then tweeted: "We just got excited when we mistakenly thought David Tennant was retweeting us- lucky we could check with the man himself. Thanks, David! :)"
(This account is written in the third person so is clearly not by David himself.)

Articles about David Tennant's pilot Rex Is Not Your Lawyer in the British Press

Following the report here earlier this morning taken from Ausiellofiles saying that the sets of David Tennant's pilot Rex Is Not Your Lawyer are "coming down this week", some British newspapers are picking up on the story too.

The Telegraph leads with an article titled "David Tennant's US debut 'put on hold' by NBC" and The Daily Mail call their article "David Tennant's plans to break America on ice as new TV show is put 'on hold'."

The Daily Mail article says that the decision will be made in the autumn but The Telegraph say that it could still be commissioned for the autumn schedule.

The Telegraph also mentions The Hobbit rumours which are circulating around the Internet again.

Sets for REx is Not Your Lawyer are "coming down this week"

Ausiellofiles report that sets of David Tennant's pilot Rex Is Not Your Lawyer are "coming down this week."

Ausiellofiles say that NBC declined to comment about the report from an (unnamed) 'a source close to the show' but a Peacock source stated that Rex Is Not Your Lawyer is still under consideration for an autumn (fall) slot.

Ausiellofiles quoted the insider saying The sets are on fold-and-hold. They will still be available if the show is picked up for the fall.

Click here for the Ausiellofiles article and reactions by fans.

Lots of David Tennant's fans believed that David missed the chance to play in the movie Burke and Hare due to Rex Is Not Your Lawyer being commissioned but it appears that it is because NBC has not yet made their decision so he is unable to commit to filming through until the end of March.

Patrick Stewart talks about David Tennant

Sir Patrick Sewart made some nice comments about David Tennant about their time working together on Hamlet which were repeated on FilmReviewOnline.com from the PBS Day at the TCA last week.

Patrick's comments included:
"David Tennant is an outstanding stage actor and was before Doctor Who, and it has been rather unfortunate that he has somehow, in parts of the media, been cast as the television actor who got lucky. Nothing could be further from the truth. David Tennant was an important stage actor, had worked with the Royal Shakespeare Company in leading roles long before he was cast as Doctor Who.

I love being at the top of the company and being the guy who sets the standard, sets the benchmark, speak for everybody, and David Tennant was absolutely brilliant at that. He led that Hamlet company, and was always accessible, committed, pleasant and utterly delightful. As you can see, I’m a fan of his."
